Many of us have fallen in love with Retro or Vintage Chic - a new dimension to Shabby Chic - the styles which brings back the 50's and 60's and we continue to flock to The Goodwood Revival and other events which celebrate this golden era in cars, music and clothes.
We delve and dive into street markets searching for this and that to adorn our kitchens and to buy vintage clothing for parties, weddings and even to wear on a daily basis. But, going the 'whole hog' and creating a Shabby Chic kitchen from scratch is too time consuming for most working couples. Hence the need for a Bespoke Shabby Chic kitchen which recreates the worm, comfortable. lived-in look reminiscent of old farmhouses and period cottages
Of course, the term Shabby Chic originated with the love of French Provincial furniture and antiques, but has now stretched to cover a style which celebrates the time-honoured, slightly worn, high qualty, essentially handmade goods with which our mostly better-off forbears surrounded themselves.
Our Shabby Chic kitchen design, with many classic features, is available in a range of 'heritage colours' - see chart on our Painted Kitchens page - or in Old Ivory. Note the gun barrel pilasters, Belfast sink, raised and fielded cabinet panels, tongue and groove end panels, range cooker, farmhouse table, wooden worktops, glass fronted cabinets, Roman blind and antique cast iron finish to round door nobs on cabinets. There is plenty of room for additional personal touches such as retro pots and pans, Shabby Chic storage jars, Shabby Chic weighing scales and Mrs Beeton's Cookery Books which are the epitomy of the Shabby Chic Kitchen
