TERMINOLOGY

(a) Handmade. Furniture which is totally made by hand in a workshop to your specification.
(b) Bespoke. Handmade or adapted factory-made
(c) Minimalist. More a discipline than a style the aim of which is to get rid of clutter.
(d) Shaker. A ‘look’ originated by the Shakers in the USA in 1774 which emphasises clean crisp lines, lightness and utility. May be applied to both Traditional and Modern Designs.
(e) Modern or Contemporary. Sleek, minimalist kitchen with gloss finish, Saponetta plain doors with curved edges, either matt or gloss, wide drawers, often handleless, painted or unpainted.
(f) Traditional including Country, or Farmhouse Kitchens with either painted or wooden work tops, Belfast sinks, Agas or ranges. Factory and handmade
(g) Classic. Period kitchens which contain those interior design elements which have remained constant over the years and have their origin in Georgian and Edwardian architecture.
