May we please have some more comments. Sounds exciting and Metropolitan. Perhaps someone who has eaten at Exsurgo in Midhurst might care to offer a comparison?
The Wheatsheaf Inn in Wool Lane, Midhurst has been bought by Jonathan Berry who also owns Ye Old George Inn in Petersfield. A total refurbishment has been completed in 2006 with the adjoining Old Squires Chapel Restaurant site being turned into a 30 cover private dining room or function room.
The Long Room Brasserie at the Cricketers Pub has a new Master Chef and is highly recommended by contributor Deirdre Mulvenna. We'll publish the menu when we get it. Cricketers Pub, Nightingale Rd, Farncombe GU7 3HU. 01483 4202731
Have a day out in Midhurst clothes shopping.
Meet your friends in Prezzo or Loch Fyne, at one of the many coffee shops, pubs or bars; or perhaps at the Angel Hotel or The Spread Eagle adjoining South Pond. Then there is the Old Town Hall Cafe with its outside tables in an ancient cobbled square, overlooked by the Parish Church and its cedar of Lebanon - blissful on a sunny summer's day.
Midhurst is becoming more and more restaurant orientated which is welcome. Prezzo have dominated the restaurant scene since the demise of Exsurgo in the Autumn of 2007 and Gaudi's only now doing parties. We still have the Wheatsheaf, Nava Thai in Stedham, The Spread and the Angel; but the opening ofLoch Fyne on June 4th presages an exciting uplift in the Midhurst restaurant world. VISIT COWDRAY CASTLE - A TUDOR COURTIERS PALACE .....More here. Read about André Durand's huge canvas of the Castle due with film in June 2009.
