"As a customer of very long standing - some 28 years now - the Coffee Pot is an important part of my life. My wife and I first discovered its delights in 1976, the year of the drought and blistering heat when we came down to Midhurst from Richmond to walk the hills and seek shade under the spreading oaks of Cowdray Park. The Coffee Pot was then, as it is still now, an oasis of peace away from the bustle of North Street. With panoramic views to the wooded sandstone hills above Henley Village the Coffee Pot, never seems crowded, the windows open just enough to keep the air fresh and the tables set sufficiently apart.Simon and Jackie Grout, from South Africa, own and manage the Coffee Pot with a quiet professionalism. The service is never intrusive but very quiet and quick. By the time I've opened my newspaper on a Saturday morning Simon has placed a steaming hot coffee on my table. I don't quite know how he does it so fast. But, then I've got used to Simon and Jackie's style. The tables are always immaculately clean, any crumbs from earlier visitors have been swept away almost before the've left the premises. The food, though simple, is always delicious; and the prices amazingly fair - coffee costs just £1 and is the best in town. I love the veggie soups, particularly, the mushroom which has a gentle yet distinctive flavour.
For those stopping off in Midhurst en route elsewhere the Coffee Pot is an ideal 'pit stop'. Easy to find near the town library the Coffee Pot is only about 7 minutes walk from North Street car park or from The Grange car park. When these are full - and they are very rarely inspite of being free - space can generally be found outside the Spread Eagle Hotel or in the road leading to the Wharf opposite South Pond.
For those who enjoy the simple things in life I can't recommend the Coffee Pot highly enough."
